Dog Friendly Vegetable Broth Recipe
Some of the recipes in Rusty's Kitchen: Holiday Dog Treats utilize vegetable or chicken stock as an ingredient. Of course, dogs should avoid consuming onions. Therefore, it is recommended that you avoid using broths containing onions in your dog treat recipes! Onion free broths and stocks can be hard to find, though, so here is a recipe for just that in the event you cannot find a variety to use at your local grocery store. Also, water is an acceptable replacement!
Ingredients
2 large carrots, chopped into large chunks
4 stalks of celery, chopped into large chunks
1 large baking potato, cubed
4 green cabbage stalks
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
7 cups water

Directions
In a large stock pot, combine all ingredients. Cover, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer. Allow to simmer gently for 45 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before straining and then transferring to containers for storage. This broth is perfectly acceptable to use in your soups and other dishes as well!
